Friends of Foxdenton Hall

WHO ARE WE?
A group of local residents who got together in October 2003 with the main aim of saving and restoring Foxdenton Hall and bringing it back into use as a community facility after many years of neglect and non use. Working together with Chadderton Historical Society and with support from Michael Meacher MP and local councillors, Foxdenton Hall was in 2004 taken off the market by OMBC and discussions began with OMBC as to the future of the Hall.

During 2004 and 2005 many fundraising events were held by the Friends of Foxdenton and monies put into internal improvements. These improvements included complete refitting of the kitchen which was undertaken by the Friends themselves and assisted by the Chadderton Area Committee who granted monies for the purchase of new kitchen equipment. Chadderton and Royton Round Table undertook the redecoration of the main function room. The entrance hall and staircase were redecorated and new light fittings installed. The Hall was now beginning to smile again!

In October 2004 Foxdenton Hall became the home of the Academy of Performing Arts, the very first community group to start using the building. Over 50 children now enjoy the facilities every Saturday morning. In May 2005 the Hall came back into use for private hire and parties/ meetings etc. now take place on a regular basis. All this is organised and controlled by the Friends of Foxdenton. Enquiries are dealt with on a regular basis. Anyone requiring further information about hiring the Hall should contact Gill Stevenson @ p.stevenson50@ntlworld.com

  • SO WHAT IS THE CURRENT SITUATION?

In October 2005 the Foxdenton Hall Shadow Trust was formed. This jointly represents the Friends of Foxdenton, Chadderton Historical Society and Rotary. Recognition and approval is currently being sought from OMBC and once given the Shadow Trust will work together with OMBC representatives to move forward to full Charitable Trust status and eventual private ownership and management of Foxdenton Hall. Appropriate funding will be sought to carry out necessary structural repairs thereby securing the long term future of this magnificent historical building.
